Caught up with everyone on Friday for Phil's birthday dinner down at Michelangelo's. That place has the steepest driveway ever, surprised I was able to make it up/down without smashing the lip to bits... Anyway, was a nice chilled dinner, good to see everyone.

The next night I headed down to Kez's for pho and beers. A few of us stayed the night resulting in some pretty heavy drinking and obvious results...

Waking up hungover, we spent Sunday arvo over at Phil's. Perfect weather, really looking forward to summer.

I've been quite slack over the past couple of months in regards to my blogging, with part of the reason is that I just haven't been motivated to. No, it's not that I don't do anything interesting anymore (actually...), it's just I haven't really been bothered to document these events in both written and photo form. Why? Dunno. I still enjoy occasionally blogging, don't get me wrong, only now the gap between post's is longer.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I've just set up a new tumblr like blog over at doriimon.blogspot.com . It'll be updated (hopefully) regularly with pictures that not only I like, but hopefully you will too. Check it out!

A Ninja Weekend

Haven't been updating this blog in a while due to sure laziness, so I apologize. So, let's see what I got up to this weekend with the ninja's...
On Saturday night we grabbed dinner down at Kenzan in the city. It's a Japanese restaurant, with the whole sitting on the floor around the table shebang. Food was nice but pretty pricey and not that filling, resulting in some of us grabbing Maccas on the way home!

Sushi, teriyaki chicken and Yebisu beer; JDM yo!
Anyway, after dinner we went from bar to bar before settling for a few Tsingtao's at Gingerboy.

On Sunday we all met up to hand Dan the present we had all got him; a Gen 1 Civic, complete with duct tape racing stripes and 'vintage rusted panels'.

His reaction was great! Going to be interesting to see what he does with it...

This is turning into a bit of a car blog... my apologies. Anyway, fixed up my cracked lip the other day, was very easy with the kit I picked up from Repco.
The kit which provides everything you need, from the fibreglass sheet to the resin and measuring cup.
Fibreglass sheets cut, Adidas box a coincidence.
Covered in resin and ready for patching.
Done, great success. If you've been wondering what non car related stuff has been happening recently, well there hasn't been much. Uni, work and late night kebabs pretty much make up my week, fun, I know.

Caught up with all the usual ninja's on Thursday night at the regular dinner sport. I got lost on the way and ended up significantly increasing Fu's mobile bill as Van navigated me to the right place (thanks again guys!)... time to invest in a phone with GPS me thinks.Fu also brought out his beautiful 240Z to dinner. Such a great car, love it.Look at that dish!

In a bit of bad news, I cracked my lip entering the car park on Thursday. Fortunately, it's not that bad so I'll go down to Repco soon and get a repair kit. Damn you, fiberglass.

Front Lip

Got working on my front lip the other day. It's a V Spec replica made for non GTR Skylines by some company in Adelaide. Anth from Build Threads (link) helped me sand and prep the lip and then I waited for a nice day to paint it.
Ricky (link) donated some flat black paint he had laying around and 6 coats later...
...done. I'll hopefully get it fitted on the weekend and then start driving on silly angles to enter driveways.

My Birthday

Mega late post but who cares. So it was my birthday a couple of weeks ago so to celebrate I had dinner at Lou Lou's and then we hit up Bass the following night.Andy paying Sandra for her previous nights services.Leon's dad (owner of Lou Lou's) gave us drinks on the house for the whole night (thanks again!), which meant everyone who wasn't driving could go ahead and get pissed for free.
So yeah the next night we went down to Bass... I don't really remember much from that night cause I got well and truly smashed so I'll let the pictures do the talking. Amanda got pretty drunk and violent very early on in the night, was quite entertaining to watch.

Luke came around last night and we fitted up the new exhaust to my car.Comparison of the old exhaust and the new one. The old one had "R34 2dr" written on it suggesting it had been changed before, probably during compliance or something.Aligning everything up and doing the necessary bolts.Win.

Tried out the new 'Double' burger from KFC with Em yesterday. Its just two fillets with bacon and cheese inside. While it was quite nice, it wasn't actually very filling, even when ordered in a meal.

Argh, Skylines Australia classifieds, the cause of my empty wallet. Anyway, this dude up in Langwarrin crashed his R34 and was parting it out and after a few text's, I had got myself a new cat back exhaust. Luke was awesome and drove me up. This actually isn't the first time we have gone to pick up an exhaust; earlier in the year we made the trip up to Echuca in country Victoria to pick up a cat back exhaust for his VZ Commodore.
Poor car. It's the same colour and model as mine, too.
What we had come for. Luke's more mechanically minded than I am so he was given the task to get it all unbolted.
All loaded for the trip home. Station wagons are so handy at times.
Back home. It's a 2.25'' cat back system that goes into a cannon with a 3.5'' tip. Hopefully it sounds great once I get it fitted though I'm not looking forward to the police attention...

On Saturday my good friends Clint and Sabrina tied the knot in a nice little chappel down at 'Stones of the Yarra Valley'. It was a great day; perfect weather, great atmosphere and a wonderful occasion.Signing papers.Happily married!My parents and the chapel in the background. The chapel was on the grounds of a winery, with rows upon rows of grape vines filling the scenery.
After the ceremony, we all moved to 'The Barn' for lunch, music...dancing, speeches and...cake! Congrats again, guys!

When I bought the Skyline, the previous owner handed me the key and said, "I only got one key when I bought the car". Ever since then I've been casually looking around for a blank that I can cut into a spare just in case my keys were to go missing. Anyway, this guy on JDMST was selling blanks the other day for (what I think) was a really good price so I jumped at the opportunity.

It's these little things you have to put up with when you own an import. Not knowing how genuine your 'genuine km's' are. The targeting by cops because they think you're a hoon (ugh, I hate that word). The ridiculous insurance. Not knowing for certain the previous history of the car. Having CityLink tell you "We can't register your car because we don't know what it is". It's all worth it though when you walk to the garage and catch a glimpse of your car. Mmmm... Skyline.

Bit late for a new years post? Who cares. 2010 was a blast! For what was supposed to be one of the most stressing years of my life (year 12 and all), 2010's gonna be looked back on with such fun filled and stupid memories. Anyway, new years was spent with the bros and was an alcohol fueled, firework lighting spectacular. Shame the 'Fountain of Youth' failed to live up to our expectations...So, 2011, what's been happening? Not a lot really, hence the lack of blog posts. We've mostly just spent our days chilling, catching up for coffees and having late night music pumping sessions at Sandra's. I've decided to attempt to get fit and started swimming again though all the beers have hindered my endurance... I've also been looking for a job to get some cash to do up the R34 though I haven't been able to find one yet (admittedly, I haven't been looking very hard).

We should be getting out uni offers in around half a weeks time and then begin uni in March. From then on, who knows what's going to happen? One things for sure though; there's going to be a lot of stories that come out of this year.

Before the weekend arrived Emily and I headed down to Southbank to experience the Eureka Skydeck 88, the highest viewing platform in Australia (could also be the Southern Hemisphere too?). As the name suggest, the skydeck was 88 stories high and gave a great view over Melbourne.
Later in the evening we met up with the few of those who didn't go back overseas for holiday for steak and then cake and coffee at Secret Recipe. Mmmm.

Recap Pt.2- The Dinners

My school decided to hold the valedictory dinner at Leonda by the Yarra. It was a good chance to relax and have fun before the stress of studying for the upcoming exams.Steven won something like the 'International Student of the Year' (AKA fob of the year) award or something along those lines.Graduated, yeah!After the completion of exams was our Year 12 formal, the final time we would all be together as a year level. It was held over at Lincoln of Toorak, with free booze being consumed at a rapid rate by many.There was an opportunity for everyone to vote others for various awards ranging from 'Most Likely To Start a Cult' to 'Best Bromance'. Surprisingly, once all the votes were counted Emily and I won 'Cutest Couple'. I decided to share the moment with Jono...Doing his part for charity, Shaun decided to shave his massive afro if he could raise $500 (I think). With everyone chipping in, he managed to raise close to $1000! Goodbye afro.While many went out clubbing after the formal, I decided to go home and get ready to leave for Schoolies the next morning.

Recap Pt.1- My Last Day

What a hectic past 2 months it has been! Going to high school for the last time, studying for and then completing exams that may shape the future, school valedictory and formal dinners as well as a hell of a week drinking it up at Schoolies. I decided to break up these events into separate blog post and we'll begin in chronological order which means this post will be about Celebration Day (my schools crap attempt at changing the traditional culture of 'muck up day').
So the 22nd of October was the final day for Year 12 students and although I had been looking forward to finishing school, it arrived too quick and I'm sure gonna miss not seeing some guys. High school has been some of the best years of my life and now that chapter is over.
Not many major pranks occurred this year as the coordinator's were really tight arse and threatened us all with a whole lot of things they probably would not have gone through with. Still, it was funny to see a few of the guys had taken the time and effort to sew together a penis and hang it on the school gym.After the morning breakfast, everyone was given the opportunity to write messages on each others shirts and draw boobs on other people's chest (and make out in front of the person taking the photo).Lastly was the 'Final Assembly". I remember sitting there every year thinking 'I can't wait till it's me up on stage'. Well, I finally had that opportunity. It was sad... a lot of fist pumping, whistle blowing, hugs and tears were had (none of which were mine despite what others may say).After saying goodbye to all the teachers while walking through their traditional 'teacher tunnel' (it's not really called that but who cares) it was time for us to leave, only to see each other again that night at the school valedictory.

A friend once said to me, 'Enjoy your high school days, all your friends and stuff 'cause in the future you're gonna look back and those will be some of the best years of your life'. I never used to think much about it but now, with this final year quickly coming to a close, its really beginning to take meaning. I mean heck, today one of the coordinators was going on about how we only have '26 days to go'. Imagine that, in less that a month I'll probably be seeing some dudes for the last time. You know those people- the ones you talked to and stuff but weren't close friends with or anything.Anyway, last Friday was our final dress up day with the theme being 'Circus and Carnivals'. Pretty average theme but there were some really sweet costumes.
Drums, guitar and harmonica, all at once- George is one talented kid.

Last Friday was my school's yearly music competition, Music Madness. Seeing as we were really unorganized in the pre show practice, me and the other FallONtrapeze guys got on stage expecting to sound horrible.

Teresa and Fiona decided to do a joint birthday so on Tuesday we all rocked up to K Box in the city for five hours of fun. I didn't end up singing that much 'cause, well, most of us guys ended up outside having drunken conversations and randomly busting into room 29 after one too many Jägerbombs. On Sunday it was my "sister's/granddaughter's/Marmen Cok's" 18th so everyone crashed her house and ate sushi with ridiculous amounts of wasabi (I nearly spewed, ugh). Seeing as I always impulse buy things I've refrained from setting up myself an eBay account. There are times, however, where there is something on eBay I want so Mary goes and orders it from me (thanks). Anyway, she sent me this awesome MMS to let me know my package had arrived. So cool! One of the best MMS' I've received in a while. I got these- Cali license plates. I've always wanted Japanese ones but they're quite hard to find and pretty pricey so I decided just to get some American ones to bolt onto my future Skyline/Silvia/Honda (yeah yeah, I know, I bag Honda's but still, you never know...).I also received some stickers in the mail the other day. Neat.

Yesterday the Year 12's at school headed down to Monash Uni for a talk about options after Year 12. Also present were many universities and tafe's handing out info containing their courses for next year, information and requirements. I basically grabbed every uni booklet as I'm still not certain what I want to do. Ugh, decisions.
